Douglas (Doug) Hinton was born in 1945 to Earl Douglas Hinton (Big Doug) of Kentucky and Naomi Trott Hinton of Shady Side, in Annapolis, Maryland. He attended Shady Side Elementary and Southern Junior-Senior High. Doug was raised in the family home by his mother, grandparents, and had an Uncle only six years older to play and later work with. In this Interview, he describes the many fond memories of growing up in Shady Side and following his grandfather to work on the water.
